# 001 Quality is doing the right thing when no one is looking”

An actual conversation during a business lunch.

Tippu : What about the lunch for driver?

Giri :    He would have had his lunch.

Raghu : We normally ask him to join us for lunch.

Giri:  I also do that on my personal visits. But while on office work, our company rules do not allow this.

Tippu: We have ordered excess. Why don’t we give it to the driver instead of wasting them?

Giri :    Some drivers don’t like such things. So normally I don’t do it.

Raghu : That is right.It is one thing to take them with us quite another to give it to the  driver. Perhaps it is okay to give it to beggar.

Tippu : How will the driver ever know it is left over from our order?

Raghu :  Henry Ford said “Quality is doing the right thing when no one is looking at you” 

             Whether the driver will come to know or not, giving left over is not a good practice. If you are so concerned about drivers’ lunch we should have offered food at the beginning when we came in for lunch. Concern for lunch to driver should not be coming out only if there is food going waste. There are better ways of dealing with waste:

1.     Give them to beggars.There are some who will consider even this as bad.

2.     Better feed it to stray animals (Can't feed it to Pets)

3.     Best is to order so you don’t waste! Or consume it later yourself!!
